Summer Numeracy School
Kirk Balk School Maths Department has hosted Summer Numeracy School for year 6 pupils from our Junior Schools in previous years. This event is dependant on outside funding and doesn't take place every year.
The pupils take part in a range of exciting and inspirational mathematical activities designed to improve their numeracy skills and increase their enjoyment of Maths. Four of the days are school based with a a mix of practical, investigative and IT based activities on the menu. The fifth day takes place at the Railway Museum in York where the pupils take part in a Maths Activity Day.
The week is staffed by teachers from Kirk Balk School Maths Department and from one of the Junior Schools. These staff are assisted by volunteer pupils from year 10 all of whom are considering a future career working with young children.
