Learning Together
Family learning means many things to many people and here in the FLSC at Kirk Balk we have been working very hard to ensure our family learning projects meet the needs of our wider community. Previous project have included after school clubs run by Barnsley College and ourselves. Whilst our current program runs on Saturday mornings and is for primary school children and their parents to learn about what goes on in ICT at school.

By investing in and standardising the software we use here in the FLSC at Kirk Balk with that used in the primary schools we are helping children and their parents become familiar with ICT in their schools curriculum.
Bringing ICT to life for parents and children is a real challenge but here at KBS we are indeed doing just that. To see a parent struggling with a particular skill or action then being helped by their child to find a solution gives real meaning to the term Life Long Learning. From January 2005 we are going to be providing family learning around Digital Media. We will also be running a number of one off special event days.
For us it is the start of something really special and for those taking part its something really special too. It's learning together and it is giving us all a better understanding of each others worlds making learning fun for all.
