This galactic event will involve year groups from KBS and three primary schools with two evening shows for parents and cub scouts.  This learning together event is being jointly sponsored by Kirk Balk School and The Neighbourhood Learning Network.  (No one will be asked to eat any moon rock.)

The event promises to be quite a major learning opportunity and will form part of Elsecar Primary Schools science day here at Kirk Balk.  It will coincidently be here on the same day as the Technology College Open Day allowing everyone to see how Technology College status is benefiting a wide range of learners here at KBS.

The Big Bug Show

Whilst last term saw some really creepy crawly goings on in the main hall one Friday night. The Big Bug Show visited Kirk Balk bringing a variety of spiders, cockroaches and other large bugs.  The event was part of our commitment to learning together and family learning here at Kirk Balk.  A living science event for year 7 pupils and their parents.  This was the first in what it is hoped will be many of these special learning shows and events for pupils and parents.

The event proved to be very popular and enlightening for us all.  For some it was also a real gastronomic adventure too. With the tasting of freshly prepared roast bugs (grasshopper in fact) a delight both John and Julie turned down...  The funding for the event was provided through the Neighbourhood Learning Network.
